Benoît de Lapasse is an independent lawyer in the Paris region with over 15 years of experience. He handles each case end to end, from mediation and advice to litigation, for SMEs and private clients facing complex legal issues. The goal was to move the firm up-market, introduce his new role as a certified mediator and win more clients through search. I defined the positioning with him, structured his practice into five areas of expertise, designed a sober, heraldic-inspired identity and built the website in Webflow, with custom code for page transitions and animations.

Moving to Webflow
This project was my first client build in Webflow. I needed full control over the code layer: page transitions between pages, scroll-driven animations and a precise SEO structure. Webflow handles the layout, the CMS-free static pages and the hosting, while all custom JavaScript and CSS live in external files hosted on Slater, versioned and loaded on every page.
Page transitions with Barba.js
Navigation feels like a single continuous experience. Following a structured Barba.js boilerplate, each page change plays a transition built around the firm’s owl emblem, with prefetching so the next page is ready before the click. Lenis smooths the scroll and keeps animations in sync.
GSAP animations
GSAP drives the motion layer: ScrollTrigger reveals, DrawSVG line drawings, MorphSVG shape changes and custom easings, kept subtle to match a sober, premium firm.
A sitemap built for SEO
The site is organised as topic clusters. Five pillar pages (real estate law, civil and commercial contracts, insurance law, civil liability and criminal law) target broad queries such as “avocat droit de l’immobilier Paris”. Each pillar links to more specific practice-area pages, thirteen in total, from construction defects and co-ownership to debt recovery or police custody, which capture long-tail searches and pass authority back to their pillar. A dedicated mediation page speaks to judges and peers.
Outcome
The firm now has a premium image that reflects its sobriety and rigour, a structure that can rank on both broad and specific searches, and a detailed contact form that qualifies enquiries.
